Tuesday Morning Bagpipe Blogging

Just finished watching 'Yo-Yo Ma and Friends' on Colbert and HOLY SHIT who was that chick on the bagpipes?!?

Her name is Cristina Palo, she's Spanish of all things, and she totally rawks.

Enjoy.

My Other Job

In case you didn't know, when I'm not blogging, writing movie reviews, editing newsletters, selling weird stuff on the internet or working at the video store... I sing. Sometimes just for fun, but lately doing paid gigs with a bawdy little group of Ren Fest refugees called Nero's Fiddle.

Here are a couple of tunes from our pub set at Faery Fest in Guelph last weekend - one pretty, one dirty. Not the best sound quality, and our cameraman was juggling a toddler in his lap, but you get the idea.

Enjoy!

Happy Two Days After St. Patrick's Day!

In case you hadn't heard, you missed it. The Vatican decided to move the Saint's day back to last Friday this year to avoid excessive drinking and carousing during the sombreness of Holy Week.

The response from celebrants has been, "Pope who?"

So, Happy Real St. Patrick's Day everyone! I was going to sing you a verse of 'Danny Boy', but unfortunately I don't have a mike. Instead, here's a kick-ass version of one of my favourite Irish tunes sung by Cara Dillon, who I am definitely going to have to investigate further.

Enjoy!

"Power Trip"

Someone posted a link to this kick-ass video over at Garth's blog:

The video montage is by Braeden Caley, and the music is by Baba Brinkman - a very talented young man with a Masters in English Lit. who, among other things, does a Rap version of Chaucer's 'Canterbury Tales'.

Sweet.
